DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA!

OK, let it be known: I hate drama!

And I've been getting so much of it lately... Matt is giving me drama about taking the SATs and probably my lifegaurd skills test/interview on Saturday instead of settign up for the lunch/auction plus there's the long-running revenge drama, which "cough up some dough" did not help at all! (And yeah, I know, Matt is probably just giving me fake drama but I owe him an apology b/c I've been pretty out of line lately with the "dough" thing and the cheese.... But I now have a "no-cheese" policy... My cheese sandwich days are over!)

Plus, Sarah's giving me drama about not telling her something (at least it has distracted her from the secret that Ben from SSP and I have been keeping since last summer! Well, until she reads this... lol) and Mic's getting some drama, and now Blogger, of all things, is giving me drama too! It's publishing people's FTP logs instead of my archive pages and putting some of my arcs on other people's templates and for a while Brian.Indrelunas.com looked exactly like some anime chica's blog, posts and all!

Oy, no more drama! (Yeah, war counts as drama too... no drama anywhere!) But anyway, I think now is an appropriate time to reprint the lyrics to...

The Church Drama Theme Song!

It's so confusing!

I just don't get it!

What's with all this drama?

Please just stop dating!

Or we'll explode!

BOOM!

Car update.... plus random intrusions! :)

OK, if you've been around me since Thursday, you might have heard me ranting about suddenly getting the "Check Engine" light in my car on the way to the Switchfoot concert Thursday [BTW, currently on Air1: "Learning to Breathe" :)] but [Sorry, time for another random thought intrusion: I forgot to tape 8 Simple Rules... when it came on at 12:35 this morning! :(!!!!!!! Grrr.... and it was new, too! I hate you Channel 15 for putting it on Sunday night/Monday morning instead of FRIDAY NIGHT when it was supposed to come on! And what did they put on instead? Some crappy movie from the '70s or '80s or one of those decades!!! Well eight-uple GRRR on Channel 15!

You know, they've really been aiming for my crap list lately... First with the "Oh, local news doesn't matter when we can show you a live nightscope picture of ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY NOTHING going on in Baghdad right now" attitude and the weird programming choices and the cutting the 12:00 newscast and Jonathan Elias being way too informal on the air (He talked about doing defensive driving!!! They had a story about new online defensive driving classes, and he's all like "Yeah, I know I've been in those classes!" ARRGH!) And don't even get me started on the bias thing I was talking about in TOK today (after advocating for and NPR-ish ad policy... Bad Steven! No commercials except maybe at break! lol)... End random thought intrusion.] OK, back to uhh.... oh yeah, the car stuff.

So we took it to a car place and while we were there I thre in that the brakes had started to squeak a little bit and so yeah I had no car today so that sucked (But I was actually on time to Zero Hour today... kinda b/c I didn't hafta dig for books in my car since I took them all out last night but mainly because my mom speeds! Seriously, it was like this today:

Mom: "I didn't speed!"

Me: "Uhh, you know that the speed limit on _____ Road past __________ is 35, right?"

Mom: "Oh.... Well, I was only going 40-something!"

, which is actually good for her. But anyway, I chilled on campus for lunch and went out 6th hour (missed the fire drill, awww... lol j/k) and then came back to keep Amanda company, rant about the engine light some more (We had similar experiences...), and read YM... LOL! Don't judge me, it's not like that, but anyway... It turns out there wasn't much wrong with my engine, but I need new front and back brakes but we just got new front brakes b/c that was urgent... back can wait.

So bottom line: the Metro is back with no engine light! :) I'll be driving (and probably late, knowing me!) to school tomorrow! :-D

new&noteworthy

New - Stuff I had never done before this week (Mar 23-30)

I went clubbing! :-P

Engaged in the tardy vs. absence battle. :(

Worked! :)

Parked on Level 4 of the downtown parking garage (the north one)

Parked at the top of the downtown parking garage (the north one)

Saw the BoA building from downtown

Had a fiesta de State Press... lol

Watched The Emporer's New Groove in Spanish... Las Locuras del Emperador is way better! :)

Got the "Check Engine" light in my car.... :(   and right after I gave it some way-too-expensive ($1.969/gal) gas to make sure I wouldn't run out!

Went to a Christian bookstore ("They do exist!"... lol)

And finally.... Heard Matt say "Cough up some dough!" (Sorry, Matt! Don't hit me! Fill your heart with love!)

Noteworthy - Un-brand-new but otherwise cool stuff from this week

I saw Switchfoot! :)

Talked to my car... this time basically about how it should be treating me nicely after I bought it such expensive gas instead of waiting until prices go down

Broke the shoe law (with my partner in crime, Sabrina) :)

Started reading Cry, the Beloved Country again... :)

Went on a TOK field trip... always fun! :)

Who set the precedent?

Yeah, so last night at the Switchfoot show, I was reflecting on the fact that at practically any show, the music is always excessively loud in that if it was at a lower volume, it could still be heard by everyone in the venue. But for some odd reason it can never be that way. It's like the music has to be a perfect amount over the level where everyone can hear it... It just wouldn't be right any other way.

But then I wondered, "Who exactly set this precedent? And why?"

Yeah, pretty random stuff... and I probably made it sound weirder than it really is since it's past 11 now am I'm getting to the goofy stage of tired. If it doesn't make sense, I'll fix it soon. :)

Random Friday stuff

Random rant

Why must ABC 15 News @ 5 start at 4:57?! Has it ever occurred to the people at Channel 15 that people usually notice that it's almost 5 at 4:57 or so and don't turn on their TVs until about 4:59? I mean, come on! If you start watching at 5, you miss the first three minutes, which usually includes most of the top stories...

Of course I cared more about that before the "war." Now, I know if I want to see any local news (That is why I watch local news, btw... Apparently 15 doesn't quite understand that either), I know it'll be on in the last 2 minutes of news, @ about :15 after... right before weather.

Oh yeah, on that note: I love how on 15, they used to have video intros for "Covering the World" and "Covering the Nation" when they did world and national news... back when the "Valley News Leader" actually reported a significant amount of Valley News. Heh, now they do world & national automatically and have a video intro for local news. Oy.

Shameless Alcatraz joke

Joseph: You decide where to go to college yet? Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, Yale, MIT, Prison correspondence?

Me: uhh none of those....

Joseph: lol not the famed Arizona maximum security prison correspondence program?

Me: funny, huh? but they kinda aren't great journalism schools so.....

Me: noo

Joseph: lol

Joseph: heh where then?

Me: that's ________ high... i go to ________, remember?

Joseph: lol

Well, actually there are some pretty cool people down at Blank-Number-One High, but I'm sorry... the building is just too confining for me. After experiencing the all-around-greatness of Blank-Number-Two High School (buildings, people, academics, athletics, etc.), I could never go to a school like that again (I say again b/c Carthage High was all indoors like that... Sorry, Carthage people!) And btw, grr... I hate not puttting the name of my HS or the name of the city I'm in... online security is nice, but I'm getting tired of it... Hmm, I set my website privacy standard, but I probably oughta ask the Mommikins before I go and start blurting out names of places...

My version of forwarding

From email, but hey... it's all communication... and also, if I would have forwarded it by email, then the cool fonts probably wouldn't have worked.

Do you think YOU will pass it on???

Hummm...
One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation. Satan had just come from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting. "Yes, sir, I just caught the world full of people down there. Set me a trap, used bait I knew they couldn't resist. Got 'em all!"

"What are you going to do with them?" Jesus asked.

Satan replied, "Oh, I'm gonna have fun! I'm gonna teach them how to marry and divorce each other, how to hate and abuse each other, how to drink and smoke and curse. I'm gonna teach them how to invent guns and bombs and kill each other. I'm really gonna have fun!"

"And what will you do when you get done with them?" Jesus asked.

"Oh, I'll kill 'em," Satan glared proudly.

"How much do you want for them?" Jesus asked.

"Oh, you don't want those people. They ain't no good. Why, you'll take them and they'll just hate you. They'll spit on you, curse you and kill you! You don't want those people!"

"How much?" He asked again.

Satan looked at Jesus and sneered, "All your tears, and all your blood."

Jesus said, "DONE!" Then He paid the price.

Isn't it funny how simple it is for people to trash GOD and then wonder why the world's going to HELL.

Isn't it funny how we believe what the newspapers say (Not that there should be anything wrong with that!), but question what the Bible says.

Isn't it funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Bible says. Or is it scary?

Isn't it funny how someone can say "I believe in GOD" but still follow Satan (who, by the way, also "believes" in GOD).

Isn't it funny how you can send a thousand jokes through
Email and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Isn't it funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but the public discussion of Jesus is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Isn't it funny how someone can be so fired up for Christ on Sunday, but be an invisible Christian the rest of the week.

Are you laughing?
Isn't it funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them.

Isn't it funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what GOD thinks of me.

Will YOU pass this on?... I did

Crazy fun day

Hehe, ready to wear the old lady sunglasses! (Caring more about my ability to look than my looks.)

Las Locuras del Emperador and evil kitty! (Señorita bien.)

"Wait, that wasn't in the intro. .... You read the book! Brian's group isn't allowed to talk anymore."

Fazoli's lady: "breadsticks? breadsticks?"

Late to L-B, conversing out of class ("I ate a big lunch. I have to last until 5!"), thinking I missed the bus.

"Oh, we'd never leave you, Brian." :)

"Art" w/ artsy partsy stuff:

"Oh! That's a butt!"

"The cave"

Shameless sculptures

Little kids getting inspired... uh oh.

Lecture/Q&A: "Me???" and other assorted blue-shirt confusion.

Shoes.

Engine check?!?!

Team effort parking: Thx Mic for slowing us down and observant girl in line and nearby people in line... You guys rock!

Oh, what's that about Ticketmaster? Who almost didn't get in??? That's what I thought, Kyle!!!

Clubbing, the short people zone, frequent visitors to the women's restroom. (Guys, why?)

New Times... eww.

"This is a song that Mandy didn't write." :-D

The 60 / Always a way out

Curfew??? / Rebel things

"Behaviorially conservative" (???)

11:54p: I just saw a Trails commerical! lol

I'm employed now. :)

Yep, I'm gonna be working in the nursery @ my church every Sunday. :)

YES! CONNIE GO BYE-BYE!

Connie Chung's show on CNN got cancelled, and she quit!!! YES!!!!! No more Connie!

Too good to be true? Nope, it's for real.... it was in the NY Times today:

Connie Chung Will Leave CNN (NYT)

The Show's Over for Connie Chung at CNN (Reuters)

CNN Abruptly Drops Anchor Connie Chung (AP)

Heh, that last one is on CNN.com too since it came from the AP. :-D

9:04p: Wow, the NYT story also reports that CNN recently dropped "TalkBack Live" as part of its new plan to "remake itself as a harder-edged news network." Wow, TBL has been on forever (almost!)... but that's kinda sad... like when they canceled "Burden of Proof" a couple of years ago. ;(  *sniffle*

MY QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"Food character is what you eat when no one's watching."

–Me going off of 3 1/2 hours of sleep

Punk = caffeine+++

Wow, punk rock works like caffeine (but better!) when you need to stay up late to finish stuff. Heh, I'm rockin' out to Relient K (and Larry's in the mix there somewhere... thx Kyle!!! :-D )

Oh yeah, and barbeque chips are good too!

Hi Kyla.

Honk, honk, wave, wave! :)

The Bollmanns didn't win... :(

And who wants to watch the Zaccagninos? Eww.

Bad choice, former sitcom stars, bad choice.

Don't get what I'm talking about? Well, I'm a little too mad at those ABC Family people right now, so try to figure it out from here: http://abcfamily.go.com/mylife/index.html.

Uhh, the Zaccagninos are nowhere near as funny as the Bollmanns! :( I agree with this guy:

Can anyone tell me why the Bollmans didn't get the sitcom, even though the vote was over 30% for them and only 19% for the sisters who won?
I guess it was the judges who made the bad choice. I won't be watching their sitcom that's for sure.

and this family:

I was really surprised. My 6 year old and I couldn't wait to see the Bollmans win and do their sitcom tonight. When the Z women won, we turned off the TV. I wasn't sure the material for their sitcom would be appropriate for my child. I had seen the Bollmans on a Christian TV Show and was very moved by their story. I was so hoping they would get a chance to do their show. I guess God has better plans for them. I pray that God will continue to bless the Bollman Family.

9:32p Update: See how cool the Bollmanns are: http://www.weareblended.org/.

I love going to Gracie's house...

...since it always tends to involve free food, like half of a chocolate cake and the super-huge bag o' Chinese food (complete with fortune cookies!!!)

Neighbors are good. :)

It was a really long (and circle-y) mile!

Cheesy.

OK, this has got to be the cheesiest, most obviously fake chain letter I've ever gotten:

Oooh... ahhh... cheesy!

I mean come on! Besides the fact that there really is no such thing as forward tracking, would the founder of Applebee's reeeally use 3-D, animated (Yeah, the salad was stirring and the chef was chopping.), super-cheesy clipart in a professional email? I doubt it, and Snopes.com confirms my suspicions: Supah Hoax!

To the Carthage High OAP cast:

GOOD LUCK AT COMPETITION!!!

A little note: Wow, I've been pretty big-text-y lately...

3/22 Update: WAY TO GO!!! Congratulations to the whole cast on advancing and winning best tech, and to Brian for being Best Actor and Mealnie and Chris for making All-Star Cast!

Note to self:

BENNETT BOOKS DUE ON APRIL 10!

TURN THEM IN WHEN DONE WITH PAPER!

I WANT A NUMBER NINE!
WITH A LARGE COOOOLA!

(Sorry, I just thought I'd slip that in! BTW, go Bollmanns!!!)

I'm a bad library patron! :-o

Hehehe, yeah I kinda forgot that the books I checked out from the public library a while ago for my English research paper (on William J. Bennett, btw) were kinda due last week. OOOPS! :( But I got online tonight and hit renew, and the website still renewed them until April 10 even though they were way overdue. (Sigh of relief) I thought I was gonna have to go to the library and pay the fines I surely owe before I could renew them, but the website has been nice to me... WHOO-HOO!

Now I guess I just pay the fines when I turn the books in (I gotta remember to do that when I'm done with my paper!)... but then again I could just be like Amy! :P (Yeah, I realize that probably only about five people will get that, but if you don't, trust me: it's hilarious!)

9:08p Update: Hey, my fines aren't that bad: 70¢ per book, $1.40 total... Not bad. I guess I won't have to pull an Amy after all! :-P (Oh and I found out the fines on the library website too... City websites make me happy! They do stuff!)

War. Conflict.

Yeah, too bad we couldn't solve anything dipomatically and Bush is set on overstepping his bounds and trying to be the international policeman. But it's too late to go back and try to solve problems in Iraq the right way so let's just get this war crap over with.

Oy: CNN is on 6 channels right now (3, AZ News, 15, CNN, Headline News, and ¡Más!)

Isn't Spring Break great?

Hi.

Hey, this is a little "shoutout" (Hey! Don't judge me! Using ghetto terminology is hard!) to all the "peeps" I saw in Carthage:

Grant, Dakota, Mrs. Webster, Alex, Joseph, Melanie, Jose, Mrs. Hubbard, Mrs. Musgrove, Allison, Jonathan, Matt, Eric, Kay, Josh, Ryan, Jessie, Catherine, Esme, Nick, Mr. Foster, Carrie, Miranda, Grant, Chris, Emily, Karen, Scott, Staci, Mrs. Nalls, Mrs. Fry, Walter, Chris, Shadonna, Brad, David, Brian, Shawn, Bryan, Jessica, Chris, James, Nikki, Mrs. Funderburk, Mrs. Langford, Mrs. Milam, Taylor, Sra. Warren, Mrs. Roberson, Mrs. Browning, Craig, Mijji, Emily, Joseph, Mrs. Horton, Mrs. Milstead, and Mrs. Alexander.

It was great seeing all of you guys!

Oh, and to all those people (mainly Simeon) that I didn't see (mostly Simeon), yeah sorry buddy. But hey, you know I had to go to the hot zone! ;) Anyway, I was at your lunch Friday and where were you? Oh, TMSCA, is it? So who is blowing off whom now?

OK yeah that's probably still me since I kinda sorta knew about the whole state thing in advance but, ¡NUBE!

That makes everything better, right? No? OK, well just think about how many teachers have that as their network password now. Yeah, power to las nubes! :)

10:11p Update: Way to go, OAP cast! Your performance was really awesome... Yeah, I'll admit it: I was on the verge of tears at some points too! Anyway, you guys looked great, although Melanie might have looked a bit too convincing! Anyway good luck with your time next week. I know you're last in the schedule but I hope you guys come in first! (Clueless moment #9974607 for the week: Do they even do places in OAP or is it I, II, III, IV, and V? Oh, it's been sooo long since I did sound for the OAP in junior high!)

3/16 Update: BTW, hey Melanie, have fun finding some flab for contest! :-P

I get down on my knees and I feel Your Love wash over me.

More singalong...

And when I danced with You I finally found my place

It's so extraordinary in a normal way

Because I was made for loving You

I was made for loving...

"Loving You" by Rock 'N' Roll Worship Circus... one of my favorite songs right now!!!

Sing-along time!

I don't know you, but I love you anyway

I can't see you but I hope you're here to stay

I don't know you, but I need you here with me

'cause I'm falling down, falling down.

("Falling Down," Bebo Norman)

Whoa! Switchy on mainstream

Heh, last night after Ash Wednesday service, I was gonna ask Mom to change the radio to Air 1, since she had had it on "The Zone" (101.5) all the way to church and since it was 8:00 and time for the "Top 5 Flavas" thing. But, she turns on the car and before I can ask, I hear the Zone DJ intro'ing Switchfoot's "Meant to Live" (Listen: Windows Media - Real Audio) which they're not even playing on Air 1 yet ... :(

So yeah, that was coo... lol

5:41p Update: Yeah, Jayar from Air1 says that they probably won't start playing it until "More Than Fine" starts to "fizzle," but he was all excited when I told him that "MtL" went mainstream:

"I was sooooo waiting for someone to email and say that meant to live went mainstream!!!! what an amazing song to have mainstream!!!"

Kitty Porn!

The original Kitty Porn website is gone, but there's a new one: http://www.kittyporn.org/.

Plus, real kitty porn (but with fake cats) thanks to PETA (which usually makes me mad) in one of their spay/neuter PSAs: "Sex and the Kitty."

Random late notes

OK, first of all, the Howie World commercials come on Channel 15 during the Jimmy Kimmel Show!!! (Howiiiiiiiiiiie World, where we shoot down the competition!) If you don't get it, don't worry. It's kind of an inside thing.

And also, speechify is a word!!! Wow! That's so cool!

OK, bed time now! :-)

Trashy 12!

Even though it's a generally respected news station, Channel 12 can do some really trashy things! They apparently covered the whole N Phx/Scottsdale car chase live today (or at least most of it) from their heleicopter. They even had I think Kent Dana and Lin Sue Cooney doing like a completely uninformed play-by-play.

OK, first of all, it's just trashy to show live chases when there's no pressing need. It's all for the glitz and it keeps real news from being reported. Seriously, they could just say, "There's a high-speed chase going on near Greenway and 67th so stay away from that area," and just do updates every so often and recap when it's over.

Plus, having the anchors fumble around trying to interpret what's going on just makes it worse. They prove their unreadiness and add no real depth to the story. Here was some of what was said on 12 today:

"We see one person, and oh! They're attempting a car jacking. He has some kind of a bag there. This is near 67th Avenue in a parking lot."

I mean come on, you can tell all that by the video plus a little headline with the crossroads. Heh, they even fumbled over the name of the HS.... They had had the crossroads up on screen for the whole world to see and whoever was working at the time couldn't get the name of the HS to the anchors! I even have a map of Valley high schools that I could find the name of it in like a minute. But no, they just let their anchors fumble around for it.

Yeah, no 15 comments about this btw... I didn't see how they covered it. (I was at school until 6 today so I just watched the little video clip on AZ Central... I know 15 has the whole 5:00 newscast but I've got HW to do. Speaking of that, in the words of Alberto, "I will say no more!" lol :)

Whoo: Suns game and funny bear!

Hehehe. We went to the Suns game tonight, and yeah the game was good, but basketball got upstaged by the Houston bear mascot during the 3rd quarter.

And the funny thing was, they weren't even playing the Rockets! They were playing the New Orleans Hornets, but apparently it was the Phoenix gorilla's birthday so all these other mascots showed up for a birthday party at a time out or between the 1st and 2nd quarter or something.

At the time, I thought it was really stupid... until I realized how funny one of Gorilla's guests (the Houston Rockets bear) could be. Let's see, the bear:

Stole a little kid's backpack and gave it to some guy farther down the row

Took a sweater/jacket off the back of an empt folding chair, put it on, and sat in the chair. Then, he got up and gave the sweater to some old dude.

Took somebody's popcorn and shook it all over the place.

Stole some of the cheerleaders' pompoms while they were dancing w/o them, and I think stuck them in his pants.

Fought with a couple of cheerleaders over the aformentioned pompoms.

And did other random crazy things. (Including the inflatable bear fighting with a Hornet and mooning people!)

And it was so funny because this bear looks like a teddy bear more than a real-life one, so you've got this cute little bear doing all these bad things. lol, Michael and I were busting out laughing at all that stuff during most of the 3rd quarter!

Oh, and during one of the time outs, they played that GC song that goes, "I don't ever wanna be you," so (of course) I thought of you, Kyla.

And while I'm addressing comments to people, Andrea, you better be grateful that your NBA mascot is so cool. :) We wanted to steal him and have him be our house mascot!!!

Other funny moments... mostly from late night TV last night

Money and media

First of all, in this morning's Republic there was a story about how Mill Avenue is more touristy now. One ASU girl "said Mill has become more of a tourist attraction, driving out people under 40."

And now here comes my favorite line, from a couple paragraphs down:

"Tempe business people who cater to the young say downtown has lost its identity by driving off the college crowds and their money."

College crowds? Money? What money? I mean, think about it. Who's gonna have more money: college kids who have just begun to work for their own money or retired people who are just floating in it?

That should have read, "by driving off the college crowds and their lack of money. Really, we've all heard the stories about Ramen noodles, etc, etc.

Well, my comment on media was going to be about Windows Media Player but I might be wrong about what I was mad about, so just suffice to say that "I like Sound Recorder just fine, thank you very much!" Heh, that comment works either way! :)
